We at Digitalpartner have compiled a list of social media in 2021. Don't miss this!

Social media exist in all colours and flavours, so it's perhaps not surprising that you don't know them all. That's why we've put together brief descriptions of the biggest ones and the ones you and your business need to be aware of.

Facebook

You probably recognise Facebook. Maybe you've spent endless hours watching cat videos, selling something, or reading tips in the many different groups Facebook has. Facebook has it all these days.

You can sell things as an individual to other individuals. But you can also sell your products and services on Facebook as a business. You can also buy advertising.

It is also not unusual for your company to have its own page on Facebook where your customers can ask various questions or perhaps complain about something they have been dissatisfied with. Sometimes it also works better to contact companies on Facebook compared to their own websites. But of course it's different.

The possibilities are huge with Facebook so it's no wonder it's one of the social media to watch in 2021.

Instagram

From being a social media where users posted pictures of food, Instagram became the most popular social media in a few years.

On Instagram, you can only post images or videos. Unlike Facebook where you can publish posts consisting of text only. Instagram also allows you to sell products and services as a business. You can also buy digital marketing.

Here too, there are individuals and businesses.

Linkedin

The social media is mainly aimed at professionals. Many recruiters use LinkedIn to find potential employees. LinkedIn is the perfect social media if you are looking for a new job. It allows you to showcase your skills and experience.

If you or your company are looking for new employees, LinkedIn is the place to be and is one of the most important social media platforms in 2021.

Like Facebook, it is possible to post text-only posts. It is also possible to post images and videos. It is not so common for companies to sell products on LinkedIn. Rather, they promote their company and create market value.

LinkedIn is the company that also offers different memberships for different types of purposes. There are profiles for recruiters or profiles tailored to those who are looking for a new job.

One advantage of LinkedIn is that you can directly market yourself to, for example, managers or CEOs of other companies. You can choose to market yourself by industry or job title.

A minor drawback is that the CPC is on average more expensive when compared to the aforementioned Facebook and LinkedIn.

Pinterest

Recently, more and more businesses have started to discover Pinterest as a marketing site. Pinterest is all about creating mood boards, and you can follow other accounts for their mood boards. On Pinterest you can find everything from inspiration for your garden to how to build things.

Pinterest is unique in that it is the social media platform that offers visual search. Why is this so important? Well, because 62% of Generation Z and millennials say they want to be able to search visually. These groups make up a very large number of online users and you don't want to miss out on them as potential customers.

Pinterest themselves say that 55% of their users are specifically looking for products to buy.

Personally, I would dare to say that Pinterest suits you who have a business in home decoration, flowers, furniture, perhaps even carpentry that focuses on site-built furniture that has fine details. The most important thing is to be able to take nice pictures of your products for customers to be interested.

TikTok

TikTok is probably the only social media that stirs emotions. There has been talk of the Chinese government using the app to spy on people. Some people think it's an app for children. But the fact is that Sweden's biggest TikTok has more followers on TikTok than Bianca Ingrosso has on Instagram together with Therese Lindgren's followers on Youtube.

Let me clarify. TikTok is not for kids. TikTok is definitely the social media to watch in 2021. You as a business have the opportunity to promote your services just like on any other media.

There are various surveys that show that a whopping 61% of TikTok users tend to buy the brands they see advertised. A whopping 52% would buy products to be able to become part of the community built around that product.

For those of you who have never been to TikTok. It's based on you posting videos with fun effects and music. So no more advanced than that.

Social media 2o21 for your business

Your business needs to set up new digital strategies to keep up with the latest media trends. Most importantly, you need to know who your potential customers are and where they like to hang out.

Allow me to mention Clubhouse which we wrote about last week. Clubhouse is not able to offer paid marketing to businesses. However, as an individual you can create value for your business. Talk to others about the benefits your business can offer in the right forums and share your experience and expertise.

We also recommend that you read our post on Social selling if you have not yet done so. Always good to rehearse!

It can be an advantage to have several offices for different social media. But then it's incredibly important that you post content that is appropriate for each medium.
